5 Top Western Ski Resorts to Add to Your Bucket List

Skiing and adventuring go hand in hand, so why not head to a new spot this season? Western ski resorts are known for their fresh, powdery slopes, and there are so many places to take advantage of these epic conditions. Below, learn more about the Mingos team’s bucket list spots for skiing out West.

Telluride

What was once a Victorian mining town is now a premier ski destination for beginners and pros alike. Tucked into the San Juan range of Colorado’s Rocky Mountains, this is a can’t-miss spot for skiers. And while it has a super small population (about 2,500 people), Telluride becomes home to travelers from all over the world during ski season.

Jackson Hole

Don’t be surprised if you have a celebrity spotting on the slopes in Jackson Hole, Wyoming. This picturesque escape is positioned in a valley between the Gros Ventre and Teton mountain ranges. Fortunately for tourists, there is a convenient airport in town—a rarity among most ski resorts!

Sun Valley

Idaho’s popular ski resort opened in the 1930s and was touted as “America’s First Destination Ski Resort.” Its reputation hasn’t changed much since then, as it provides a winter wonderland for locals and visitors. It’s most common to ski on Bald Mountain, but Dollar Mountain is located nearby as well. Plus, any après ski time calls for a walk around Sun Valley Village.

Palisades Tahoe

As a California-based company, Mingos is grateful for all of the incredible ski slopes in our own backyard. Our team members love heading up to Palisades Tahoe for unforgettable experiences at the state’s largest ski resort. The 1960 Winter Olympics were hosted here, and it’s home to eight peaks and a whopping 6,000 acres you can ski on.

Whistler Blackcomb

If you’re heading West but want an international skiing excursion, make sure to visit Whistler Blackcomb. Just north of Vancouver, it’s the largest ski resort in all of North America. While you’re there, you should also stop by the Olympic Park, which was a venue for the 2010 Winter Olympics.

Ready to plan your next ski-cation? If so, we have one piece of advice: Don’t forget to pack your Mingos!
